Tired of cable twists?
Written by Nick Marques

Wrapping cables with the over/under method prevents them from twisting when they are unwrapped. It also ensures that wires don't twist in the jacks causing them to break from the connectors. The over/under method is especially effect with longer cables. Here's how:
  1. Hold one end of the cable in your left hand, palm up or down, letting it rest on your finger tips.
  2. With your right hand, grab the cable about two feet or so from your left hand, and twist the cable away from you (clockwise) so that it naturally forms a loop as your move the cable into your left hand.
  3. Grab the next two feet of cable with your right hand, and this time twist the cable the opposite direction, and while moving your right hand to your left, the cable should loop itself under the previous loop.
  4. Repeat steps 2-3. The trick is alternating the twists of the cable with each wrap, stacking the cable alternately over and under in your left hand.
  5. Test your wrap by holding one end of the cable and throwing the rest of it outward. The cable should unwind, leaving no twists and no knots. Practice makes perfect.
