With all of this cold weather, I slowly noticed a degrade in my vehicle's battery performance over the last few days. Recently, the 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee began stalling out when the engine was allowed to idle. Historically, I usually simply clean the battery terminals with a wire brush to get rid of corrosion and oxidation. Today, I discovered that a quick spray of Windex and a wipe with a cloth or paper towel did just the trick! It occurred to me to try it, since Windex contains ammonia, which is a main ingredient found in many metal polishes and cleaners. This simple clean immediately improved my vehicle's performance, noticeable in acceleration and fuel economy. Aside from automotive and it's purpose as a glass cleaner, I also use it to clean anything made of metal or plastic. |
